During the temperate seasons of spring and autumn, you should schedule a routine inspection of your heating and cooling systems. This is the best way to ensure that your equipment runs properly when you need it the most. It seems that things fall apart when we need them most- like on the hottest day of summer or during a snowstorm. Make sure your home stays comfortable all year long by scheduling HVAC preventive maintenance.

 

Depending on the type of system you have, you will need to schedule cleaning and maintenance at different points during the year. This ensures that your unit performs correctly during the times it will be working the hardest. For cooling systems, you should have someone take a look at your unit in the spring, before the cooling season. Likewise, you should schedule maintenance for a heating system in the fall, before the heating season. If you have an all-in-one system, schedule cleaning services in both the spring and fall.

 

Once you have called for HVAC preventive maintenance, a technician will come to inspect your equipment. If possible, call the business that installed your equipment or one that specializes in the brand of your unit. He or she will perform different inspections depending on whether your unit is located inside or outside. Outdoor systems should be cleared of debris, inspected for proper refrigerant levels, and lubricated accordingly. Indoor units require that the air vents be replaced, blower assembly is cleaned, and the unit is inspected for leaks. Your professional maintenance person will be able to show you the checklist.
